Position Overview:
Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a virtual learning environment. You will collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other professionals to ensure students with diverse needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
? Deliver individualized, engaging instruction to students with disabilities in a virtual classroom setting.
? Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
? Use data-driven instructional strategies and online tools to address the unique needs of each student.
? Regularly assess student progress, adapt instructional methods, and provide feedback.
? Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and create accommodations for students.
? Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and provide strategies for at-home support.
? Maintain thorough records, documentation, and compliance with IDEA and Ohio state regulations.
? Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing training.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor?s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master?s preferred).
? Valid Ohio teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
? Experience working with students with disabilities (autism, ADHD, speech/language disorders, etc.).
? Ohio DOE Certification
? BCI Background Check
? Proficient in the use of virtual teaching platforms and educational technology.
? Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
? Ability to provide differentiated instruction and manage a diverse caseload of students.
Preferred Skills:
? Experience in a virtual teaching environment.
? Familiarity with Ohio state standards and special education regulations.
? Proficiency with IEP writing and implementation in an online format.
? Ability to build positive relationships with students and families in a virtual setting.
